Tim Wengelaar
During the summer of 2018 while walking through the streets of Zutphen in the Nertherlands, Brandon was recounting out loud the exploits of the North Shore Regiment and its battle in the town in April 1945. A gentlemen overhearing this approached us and asked if we were talking about the Second World War. That was the beginning of a surprise relationship with our newest friend Tim Wengelaar. Tim proceeded to take 2 hours out of his day and show us around Zutphen when the battles took place. Tim has a close connection with Canada as his family hosted a Canadian war veteran from Nova Scotia at their home during the 50th anniversary on the Netherlands in 1995. He kept close with his “second family” and even visited Nova Scotia. Tim is very knowledgeable and has led many tours about the battle in Zutphen, where the North Shore fought one of its last major battles of the war.
