Taking the classroom on the road

Since 2004, Brett and Chris have been working with EF tours taking students to many different locations in Europe. In June 2020, Brett and Chris will be embarking on their 10th student tour to Europe! Aside from chaperoning one of these tours in 2008, Brandon has been involved in two student exchanges in the Netherlands in 2010 and 2013. The most ambitious project for the trio began in 2017 with the collaboration with others in Anglophone School District North that saw 150 students and teachers travel the route of the North Shore Regiment during the war. The high point of this trip was the June 6, 2019 ceremonies conducted by the students at the places where the North Shore fought on D-Day.

Learning history in the classroom or from literature is important, but nothing compares to the positive impact that one feels when experiencing history at the actual places it occurred. We have always enjoyed being able to give these experiences to people and seeing them personally grow from the exposure that travel brings.
